STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES ON A
TURKISH ROSE TOUR
Holidaymakers today demand a lot more
from their breaks than just a few days at the beach. We not only want to
visit new places, but experience new sensations and revitalise our lives!
Hence the growth of niche holiday companies like Aroma Tours who offer the
unusual and fascinating Turkish Rose Tour.
This 13-day journey takes you through
Turkey, delving into its rich aromatic and cultural heritage. The holiday
begins in the exotic city of Istanbul with its mosques and aromatic spice
markets. From there you fly to Cappadocia where you’ll explore the eerie
underground dwellings that litter the moon-like landscape in the famous
Goreme Valley. At first light, you travel into the countryside where you
can revel in the sight and scent of field upon field of wonderfully
fragrant roses. Here you discover that Turkey is home to the precious rose
oil, Rosa Damascena. You’re even encouraged to pick your own basketful
of blossoms before returning to the rose distillery where you can
literally romp through mountains of rose petals and witness the creations
of the oil.
As well as seeing and experience new
places and sensations, you’ll get to enjoy the soothing feel of a
Turkish bath, learn about the colourful heritage of traditional carpets
and feast on the delicacies of Turkish cuisine. The tour is accompanies by
rose expert and Turkey enthusiast, Dr Peter Wilde, as well as Jim
Llewellyn, owner of Aroma Tours. Accommodation ranges from quaint inns to
lavish four- and five-start hotels.
